There are plenty of great places to live in San Antonio. So, where is the best place to live? It really depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a downtown lifestyle with lots of nightlife and culture, then the city center is probably your best bet. But if you’re looking for a more suburban setting with big yards and good schools, then there are plenty of neighborhoods outside of the city that would be perfect for you. So, it really depends on what’s important to you! No matter where you end up living in San Antonio, though, you’re sure to enjoy all that this wonderful city has to offer. 

Downtown: Downtown San Antonio is the epicenter of entertainment and activities in the city. With everything from restaurants to events, downtown has something for everyone. The Riverwalk is a great place for an evening stroll or running errands during the day! 

Monte Vista: Monte Vista is located north west of downtown near Highway 281 and 1604. It’s minutes away from all the shopping and restaurants on North Star Mall as well as attractions like Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Morgan’s Wonderland (a theme park designed with special needs riders in mind).  

Alamo Heights: Alamo Heights offers beautiful homes, quiet neighborhoods, access to the San Antonio River, and a serene setting. Alamo Heights has 1/2 mile tree-lined sidewalks perfect for running or biking long distances. It’s also close to public transportation, making it easy to get around. 

Olmos Park: Located north of downtown, Olmos Park is an upscale neighborhood full of beautiful homes and mature trees. The neighborhood is very safe with great schools nearby! If you’re looking for a place that’s not too far from everything that the city offers, then Olmos Park might just be the place for you.

Castle Hills: If you’re looking for an upscale neighborhood that has plenty to offer, look no further than Castle Hills! With 1/2 mile tree-lined sidewalks perfect for running or biking long distances, amazing views, terrific schools, Castle Hills should be at the top of your list! 

China Grove: Home to some of the best Asian cuisine in San Antonio, China Grove is a great place for those who love food from all around the world. The neighborhood is small and quaint with a tight-knit community feel that everyone loves. Plus, it’s very close to downtown! 

Shavano Park: Shavano Park is located south east of Castle Hills and north of Alamo Heights. It’s near many attractions like Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Morgan’s Wonderland (a theme park designed with special needs riders in mind). The neighborhood is mostly residential with easy access to IH-10, making traveling a breeze! 

Converse: Converse is located north east of downtown San Antonio. It’s near Randolph Air Force Base, offering easy access to the base for military families. Converse is also home to many great parks, shopping centers, and plenty of restaurants! 

 Live Oak: Located south west of downtown between Highway 281 and 37, Live Oak is a fantastic place to live if you want quick access to both the city and the country! With 1/2 mile tree-lined sidewalks perfect for running or biking long distances, high performing schools all around, and beautiful views from any point in town, Live Oak should be on your list of places to visit today! 

Terrell Hills: For those who enjoy great views, large lots of land, and upscale living, then Terrell Hills is for you! Located south west of downtown between Highway 281 and 37, Terrell Hills is an amazing place to live if you want quick access to both the city and the country. Plus with 1/2 mile tree-lined sidewalks perfect for running or biking long distances, high performing schools all around, not to mention beautiful homes in almost every direction you look – there’s no doubt that this neighborhood should be on your list of places to visit today!

Garden Ridge: For those who want a big backyard and easy access to IH-35 – look no further than Garden Ridge! Located south east of San Antonio between New Braunfels and Austin, this small city spans around 20 square miles and has no shortage of things to do. 

The best places to live in San Antonio are all over the city. If you want a great place with tons of amenities, check out Stone Oak or Champions Ridge for your new home. However, if you’re looking for some peace and quiet away from it all, Alamo Heights is an excellent choice. It’s hard to go wrong with any of these neighborhoods because they each have their own unique charms that make them perfect for different lifestyles!
